What is Neuralignment

Background

I have had a fascination with the brain since I was a child, and knew my life and career would lead me to delve deep into understanding the human mind. My focus for my undergraduate degree was Neuropsychology, with the aim of becoming a psychiatrist upon graduation. However, after volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocated (CASA) for for abused and neglected children, volunteering in a children’s home, working for a child psychologist, and working as an applied behavioral therapist, the exposure to the intensity of the field of child psychology burst open my own deep childhood wounds that had remained unhealed. Due to this, I realized that I was not prepared to hold space for others, so I pivoted my career to Biomedical engineering. With this career I could focus on the frontier of Neuroscience, from a technology lens while still getting the exposure to the research I desired.

I received my Masters in Biomedical Engineering knowing I would focus on the world of Neuroscience upon graduation. My first role after receiving my Masters was with a Neuro-imaging start-up, WAVi. There I was able to be a part of the early development team for the WAVi qEEG headset and software. The product was aimed as being an adjunct to diagnosis, providing topographic brain images and data reports, that help physicians find brain markers for anxiety, depression. ADHD, concussion, and overall brain health. My time at WAVi exposed me to cutting edge research for brain health, and allowed me to work with practitioners that had unique protocols to improve the brain as well as find techniques for improving mind-body connections. I had my own WAVi system, and would scan my brain on a weekly basis to see how my personal nutrition, meditation and spiritual practices were changing my brain images. I began to see patterns and changes in my brain coherence, brain speed and brain amplitude (power) from my own practices that I had learned and synthesized from all of the physicians I had met. If you are or around the Boston area, and would like your own qEEG brainscan, please email me at connect@hihealing.me.

One protocol that really struck me was Brainspotting. Brainspotting (BSP) is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. I had been in talk therapy for years, and while I saw many benefits, I had never had a modality get to the core of my wounding so quickly and release it in a matter of a couple of sessions. The weekend I received my BSP certification, was one of the most powerful experiences of my life. I saw and experience some of the most amazing things I had ever seen, and I realized I had a natural knack for working with people in 1:1 environments. My inclination to becoming a psychiatrist was right to a degree, so I began practicing this tool, and continued studying other tools for reaching the subconscious to rewire the brain.

I enhanced my meditation practice, and came up up with my own guided meditation protocols. I used bioneural beats to deepen these practices, and I took several mediation courses. I also dove into studying hypnotherapy, and continued to study the brain allowing my intuition to guide me into what topics to study. Now, after over a decade of studying the brain, I have taken all that I have learned and built my own protocol called Neuralignment, which combines the best of all that I have learned into one protocol.

What is Neuralignment?

Neuralignment is a deep neural-alignment that brings your neuron wirings into alignment with your true and highest self. This takes work in the subconscious to find your core wounding, and begin to heal from deep within. This process requires us to take advantage of Neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity is the ability to change your neural wirings, and form new ones. In this protocol we target areas of challenge, find your core wound and begin to break apart wirings and form new, healthier ones. A metaphor that has helped me understand neural wirings and the adage, neurons that fire together wire together is a ski slope. When there is fresh snow you have an equal likelihood to travel down any path, but once there is a path that is more travelled, deep indents in the snow begin to build and that is the natural way your skis want to flow. Just like your brain, when it is used to firing a certain way it wants to continue to fire that way, because it is the path of least resistance, which is how you find yourself in patterns. I also like to think of finding your core wounding like finding a knot in your muscles, once you find the area you begin to apply pressure to release that knot until it is gone. Relatively speaking, it is a new discovery that we can rewire and change the fully formed adult brain, and research continues to demonstrate human’s inner power to change their brains.

This process takes the best of several modalities to get deep into your subconscious and begin to rewire your brain. We use a combination of binaural beats, guided meditation, and inductions to get to the space between full waking state and sleep. In this state, we are able to address things in a way that is different from both waking and sleep states. In this place, I work as your guide facilitating your own inborn ability to change as desired, because all the power is already inside your own mind. After the session, you will get Neuralignment recordings to continue the healing after the session.
